What makes you pick up a sandwich from the chiller counter? You choose it by the filling, don’t you? You never look at the packaging – it might as well be cellophane. Think again…we’re all influenced by the outer layers, the superficial wrapping, anything we can call ‘packaging’. It’s irritating, gets in the way, needs recycling or throwing away, has a life after us. But, most of all, packaging has a job to do.

Food Packaging by Ashine

There’s a third job for the packaging to do. It’s not just about what it contains or how it looks on the shelf, but how the packaging itself has been made. Is it compostable /recyclable? Are the inks food-safe - do they biodegrade? All inks we specify for food packaging are vegetable based and all carry food safety certificates. If the food is sitting on the print, has it been correctly sealed? Product recalls cost millions. Think again. When it comes to designing food packaging, ashine works to a crucial check list.
